Kolja Thomas Earns GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week Honors

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University men's soccer team earned their sixth GLIAC Player of the Week award as Kolja Thomas (Butjadingen, Germany / Zinzendorschule Tossens) was named Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. The Cardinals defeated Parkside 1-0 and Northern Michigan 3-0 as they moved into second in the GLIAC, one point behind Roosevelt.

Thomas led the Cardinal defense playing in all 180 minutes over the weekend. The senior defender helped the team hold opponents to seven total shots and only one on goal over the two matches. Thomas also accounted for four shots, two on goal, putting more shots on target than the SVSU opponents.

This is the first GLIAC Player of the Week award for Thomas. SVSU heads on the road this week to face Roosevelt on Friday, October 24 and Purdue Northwest on Sunday, October 26.
