Klein Finishes in the Top 10 at Findlay Spring Invite

RICHMOND, Ky. – Saginaw Valley State University men's golf went straight back to Kentucky on Monday and Tuesday, playing in the Findlay Spring Invite. The Cardinals tied for ninth out of 20 teams at the three-round tournament at Boones Trace Golf Course with their best 54-hole team score of the year, shooting 875 (+11).

Evan Klein led the team, tying for eighth out of 108 golfers. He carded a team-best 67 (-5) in the first round, tying for first place to start the tournament. He followed with a 74 (+2) and 71 (-1) for a total of 212 (-4).

Garrett Morrison followed as he tied for 33rd. He started with a 71 (-1) and a 77 (+5) before ending on an even 72 for a three-round total of 220 (+4). Tony Spicuzza tied for 47th shooting just two strokes behind Morrison. He carded rounds of 71 (-1), 72 (+2), and 77 (+5) for a tournament finish of 222 (+6).

Ben Yono and Dominik Dostal rounded out the team with totals of 225 (+9) and 233 (+17). Yono followed a first round 80 (+8) with a 72 (E) and 73 (+1). Dostal carded rounds of 78 (+6), 80 (+8), 75 (+3).

Morrison finished tied for fourth best on par fives as he was five under and averaged 4.58 strokes per par five. He and Klein both carded 13 birdies, finishing tied for seventh most in the tournament, helping the team finish fifth in total birdies with 51.

Up Next: Saginaw Valley men's golf is back in action next week when they head to the Findianapolis Intercollegiate. The tournament takes place at the Chariot Run Golf Course in Laconia, Indiana on Monday, March 30 and Tuesday, March 31.
