UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – Amber Clark-Robinson has been selected as the inaugural women's flag football head coach at Saginaw Valley State University, according to an announcement made on Friday, January 16, by Deputy Athletics Director and Senior Woman Administrator Liz Lerczak Lee. The Cardinals' women's flag football team will begin competition in the spring of 2027.
"I'm very excited to welcome Coach Clark-Robinson to the department," Lerczak Lee said. "Finding someone to build a program carries a lot of responsibility and I have the utmost faith in Coach Clark-Robinson leading that charge."
Clark-Robinson comes to SVSU from the University of Saint Mary where she served as the head flag football coach for two seasons, improving the team's record by two wins in her first season and developed five KCAC All-Conference selections in her final year.
"I'm very excited and grateful to have the opportunity," Clark-Robinson said, "This game has grown really fast, and I'm excited to have an opportunity to build a program the way I want it to be built. I'm most excited to start the process and start building that legacy."
Not only has Clark-Robinson been coaching, but she has also been playing women's flag football at the highest level. She's been a defensive back on the US Women's Flag Football National Team since January 2023. The 2023 team went undefeated in tournament and bracket play, and she was named team captain by her peers.
"Representing Team USA on the highest stage for women's flag football, I would consider her an expert in her field, and I know she will continue to make a positive impact on women's sports, not only at SVSU but nationally as well," Lerczak Lee said.
Clark-Robinson also served on the USA Football Board of Directors/Executive Board for nearly two years, helping govern the organization by participating in board meetings, decision-making processes, and policy development.
