He was a two-sport athlete at Midland High School in football and track & field. He was a four-year varsity starter on the football team, where he was a two-time first-team all-conference selection as a linebacker and punter. He earned second-team all-conference as a linebacker and honorable mention as a punter in 2022. He was selected to the Midland Daily News first-team all-area dream team as a punter and the Saginaw News second-team dream team as a linebacker. He was a four-time academic all-conference student-athlete and earned academic all-state.

Majoring in general business. He was born in Midland, Michigan, on November 28, 2006. He is the son of Dr. Amy McGinnis and Dr. Eric Buschlen. His uncle played baseball at SVSU from 2000-04.
