UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The No. 23 Saginaw Valley State University football team continued to roll through the nonconference schedule with a 35-14 win in the Axe Bowl against Northwood University on Saturday in Midland.
Senior quarterback Andrew Brito led the SVSU offense, earning the team's first Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference weekly honor of the season in the process. Brito finished 17-of-23 passing for 248 yards and two touchdowns through the air. He added 11 carries for 110 yards, including a 61-yard touchdown run.
The GLIAC named Brito the latest Offensive Player of the Week.
The Cardinals return to action against Michigan Tech in a nonconference matchup at 1 pm on Saturday in Houghton, Mich.
